Why Veterans Need Military-Friendly Agents

If you are a United States military veteran or currently serving and find yourself needing to buy or sell a home, it is best to choose a military-friendly realtor to help you through the process. The best way to find a military-friendly agent is to simply ask around in your network. From there, do an online search in your area. Having a military-friendly realtor can offer you a range of benefits throughout your buying/selling experience.

Quicker Process

You can typically expect tight deadlines when it comes to active military members relocating. Having a real estate agent that is familiar and knowledgeable on the process of not just buying or selling, but the ins and outs of the VA loan process (see my last blog!), making adaptive home renovations, ensuring your timeline, and more. An agent without any military-friendly experience could miss something along the way or elongate the process.

Adapt to Your Needs

Military-friendly realtors are often veterans themselves. This means they can relate to and understand veterans and active-duty members and their home needs. They know that many veterans now suffer from PTSD and other disorders, as well as physical ailments. Military-friendly agents will ensure your home meets the needs of any potential disabilities by having any necessary renovations completed before move in. They also understand that sometimes you cannot be present at Open Houses or viewings due to your schedule, so your realtor will adapt by using video calls and taking high-resolution photos to help you make your decision.

Easy VA Process

A military-friendly agent will make sure your VA loan is as smooth as can be. They know what's required by you (the borrower), by the bank or financial institution (the lender), and by your home (so it qualifies!). To receive a VA loan, your home must meet certain minimum requirements, but your realtor will be aware of this from the beginning, so it shouldn't be any issue making sure your home is approved. An experienced, military-friendly real estate agent will also know the right lenders to match you with, so no time is wasted in the process.
